Stolen tft screen and anti theft brace

On Friday, in central London, they stole the tft screen from my BMW C400x. I am now waiting for a replacement (and the cost coming with it….)

I was looking online for an anti theft brace, however most of them seem to be made for the larger motorbikes and, when I asked some of the manufacturers, they advised that it is not possible to fit it on my scooter….

Have any of you fitted such a brace on the c400x model?
 
Same has just happened to me. In Arundel St, near the Strand. Not happy.

Have you managed to find anyone that does an anti-theft brace? I can't find anything on Google...

How much did it cost you to replace the TFT and where did you go?

is the screen for the C400– shared from/with another bike? If so, the anti theft devices for that model may work with our bikes.

I don't. My suggestion is to see if the TFT screen on the C400 you own is used on another BMW. If it is a part that BMW uses on another bike, and someone developed an antitheft device for the bike that shares the same screen (i.e. maybe teh F850GS), that device may work on the C400X or GT. YOu can ask your dealer if they know of another bike that uses the same display as the C400.

I’m wondering if they can be retrofitted onto the C400GT

How did the thieves remove the TFT from your motor bike?
 
Unfortunately, none of the brackets I’ve found online will work with a C400. However, I’ve found someone who will custom make one for me - if there’s anyone else who would like one let me know and happy to help try and arrange - I’d recommend it given I’ve been quoted that the cost to replace is about £1,500!

Holy smokes. I never would have guessed 1500 bucks. Sorry that you have to suffer through that.

Strewth. Not a problem with the old dials we used to have. I would be interested in one of thee if it is straightforward to fit and not too pricy (pensioner).
 
Is it easy to get these screens off the bike? I just can't imagine why someone would want to steel them? Is it a thing like keying a Tesla? My bike is in storage in Florida waiting for me to come and ride it March 2 during bike week.

Wonder where these came from?

My Tft screen was stolen a week ago . in Central London. on my 400 gt . The guy from BMW who cam to pick up my scooter this morning to take it to BMW said this was the 3rd one jsut today ......I am not sure why they are stealing a lot of those screen atm ...... the cost to replace is ridiculous 1600 £ ... is there a proper anti theft protection ??
 
Hi Jim, I had same issue three weeks ago. I am working with Mark from Cymarc Engineering Ltd to manufacture on for the C400. I will let you know when this become available.

Hi everybody, many thanks to Stefano with his help in getting me to focus on this problem. I’m very much afraid I don’t know very much about scooters (I’m a GS rider) however I have started to design security devices for the screens for scooters. The first one is for the CE-04. The next one will be for the c400GT. Please feel free to contact me if you have any advice - as I said I don’t know anything about scooters - but I’ll work as fast as I can to come up with solutions.

You might want to message @wspollack. Though I have not met him personally, we do shoot messages back and forth and he is an owner of a C400GT, one of the not too many of us who have stripped one down (I think twice in his case). I can assure you that he is a very thoughtful and experienced motorcyclist who may be able to assist if you have questions. I have no Idea what his availability might be but, if nothing else, you'll enjoy chatting with him!
