Wunderlich Vented Screen

I've installed the Wunderlich Marathon windscreen on my C400GT. I went with the smoked and vented version. I am 6' 02", with a 34" inseam. The screen is about two inches taller than stock. It is definitely an improvement over stock as it relates to buffeting over the top. It also reduces turbulence on the torso, and it is a calmer cockpit compared to the conditions the stock screen creates. It is also quieter, but not exceptionally quiet. One inch taller and it would be perfect for my height. I'll order the Vario deflector and call it done. There is a slight concern though. I think that it may reduce weather protection. I'll post a pic to show why I feel this is the case soon. Like most know, it is nearly impossible to avoid rain on long summer days here in Florida which is why this is important to me. The screen directs wind around the lower fairing and I think it will drive water in that same path. I may be wrong. Anyhow, it is very good quality with outstanding optical clarity and provides for a calmer cockpit and would be perfect for anyone up to 6' tall. Now that I think of it, I may try the Givi but it is 6 inches taller than the Wunderlich. I do not think I would enjoy that aesthetic.

I don't want this post to discourage anyone from trying the screen as it is pretty good. I saw a like on this post and did want to give an update as I had to send the screen back. I ordered the vented screen which was advertised as "hermetically sealed," which is a little over the top but I get it; it's sealed and air and water won't get through. It had significant gaps around the vent, and I sent pics to Wunderlich USA. They said that they went and inspected other screens that they have in stock and "...unfortunately, that is just the way it is." They went on to say that they have sold many of these screens and had no reports of water infiltration. Anyhow, given their assertion I mounted it up and went out for a ride to Lake Okeechobee. The vent would not stay closed at any speed above 40 MPH. Then I got caught in the rain. When I placed my hand on the lever to keep it closed, the water still came through the gaps. Not a big deal but Wunderlich's response was a bit crappy. They did send me the return label but also said they would inspect, and if unused, they would refund my purchase price. I reminded them that a defect was disclosed, pics were sent, it was dismissed as being normal, then another defect identified after being told it was normal, etc... Anyhow, we shall see how it goes with the refund but not terribly optimistic. I'm sure the vent-less screen is a fine choice for many.
