Not that I would get one for myself, but this is pretty cool. I can see some of you wanting one.

It is a thermal imaging device that plugs into your smart phone. You can take pictures with it or even video. There are a lot of things that you can use it for. It's features are impressive for only $250.00. If you think a scooter component is heating up, you can actually see if it is. It might be good to take reference pictures and email them to yourself.

For less than 5 bucks you can get an infrared thermometer at radio shack. When trouble shooting , knowing what is the normal; condition , pressure, temperature etc. is what's important. Is it hot, or too hot? Is it hot or is everything around it too cold? That is the question! Infrared camera's are best at general observations such as are your windows a greater heat loss then your doors. Most machinery is designed to work at a design temp, and knowing if you are there or not is important. Motorcycles included.

I also have a HF infrared thermometer, it's the pistol shaped one. I've used it for years when hauling trailers, best thing ever to check wheel bearings with at a quick rest stop. I use it to trouble shoot cooling systems, cold spots in radiators indicate blocked tubes or scaling, transmission, oil coolers, etc. are easy to spot problems with a infrared non-contact thermometer. It's also easy to check your air conditioner output in your car. Very handy, useful and inexpensive tool to have.

Well, I would have no idea what to do if I saw images of the bike heating up in certain spots, but, like you said, it does look pretty cool for fooling around with a bunch of different applications.
