I have had to have a new switch fitted to control the electric screen of my GT. To install it the dealer had to remove the LH heated grip unit. They discovered it had been installed incorrectly. The wires had been damaged, and could have easily shorted out on the handlebars. They took the LH grip off of a brand new scooter and found the same problem. This is over 12 months difference in manufacture date.

They have reported this back to BMW services and it looks possible it could be a general build issue. I am told it could result in a dealer recall, watch this space.

Thanks Mike for this heads up.
Mike, what year model is your GT?

Might be a problem with the newer scooters. Mine's a '13 with no problems with the grips so far. Been a coldish winter around here so I'd notice it pretty quickly.
