Stripped screws on windshield :(

Got my Givi windshield yesterday, Went to remove the 4 bolts on the stock windshield and the top 2 ones just spin, if I look at the back side I can see the threaded insert just spinning in the plastic and there's not an easy way to hold it from the back.

Anyone run into this? Any tricks?
I hate to have to drill these out...

I can now see why the Givi windshield doesn't use that fastening method, just a bolt with a metal nut on the other end. No plastic to worry about...
 
Find a small screw driver and wedge it against the side of the captured nut. You might have to do that even if you drill, to keep the fastener from spinning. Probably the person installing the windshield at the dealer over tightened them, or someone trying to loosen them turned them in the wrong direction.
 
The back of the nut is inside the plastic unfortunately. What I ended up doing was drilling a small hole right into the plastic and into the metal bushing inside, I left the drillbit inside and that held the nut in place and I could them back the screws out.

The Givi windshield sure comes with a ton of parts. Took a while to get that sucker on, but its on...

It is much much taller than stock. The wind truly goes right over my head in the highest position (I'm 6 foot tall). But I get some minor buffeting around my shoulders at highway speeds, But its pretty quiet....
The screen at the medium setting is louder and smoother. Nicer for hot days.
On the back roads doing 30-40mph this screen really shines, its like a shield from the elements...

The biggest difference for me was the hand guards, those are really great!

I have done the same thing (windshield off to clean behind it). Surprised me how easy it was to remove and put back on. I did notice that locktite was used. At least I assumed it was locktite or an equivalent.

It happened to me the 2 bottom screw insert rotating, maybe due to over tightening during initial install. This is a warranty item, BMW replaced the bracket including the windscreen on mine.

Please do a warranty claim before proceeding further.
