Stock Roller weights VS Dr. Pulley Sliders

Following the Spanish Forum, of the 12 new members 5 are doing a group purchase of Malossi variators, one of which is selling his J.Costa after he does so.

One guy wasn't as interested in a radical off-the-line acceleration improvement and big RPM change; he just wanted an overall improvement.

So, OUT went the stock 33gm rollers and IN went the 28gm Dr. Pulley Sliders. Impressions? A bit quicker off the line, much better mid-range power and passing ability, top speed was unaffected and mileage seems the same.

The consensus was to next do the "Washer Trick" that has been done on CVTs since they first came out; put in a 1mm spacing washer (Malossi and other variators come with them) under the variator spacer that it slides on, to WIDEN the distance slightly between the two pulley halves at rest, which will slightly LOWER your effective gear ratio from a standstill, increasing your initial acceleration.

The washer trick is very interesting indeed. I assume it wouldn't effect top speed?
I was under the impression that the sliders would also effectively change where the belts sits on the pully, so can you do that with the washer trick too?

I've been waiting to find a place in the US that I can order the 28gram sliders from...

Ok, those links seem easy enough to get the rollers and sliding pieces. Are the 28 grams the best ones to get?

Anyone have any dimensions for the 1mm washer?

(You'll also want to upgrade/replace the Sliding Pieces that guide the Variator as it moves in and out)

28gm seems to be the consensus choice. 32gm is basically stock, 30 isn't enough of a change to matter; 28gm works great.

For the washer; you'll have to match it up...wheel bearing spacer shims would work well. (VERY Old School...)

Hi guys, I am Dirk from Dr.Pulley shop Europe.
Just one information:
In the photo I see the sliding rolls SR3020/8-28 . They are made for Kymco Myroad 700. If you need the SR rolls for BMW, you should order SR3020R/8-28
The shape of the rolls is different ! It works with SR3020/8-, but with "R" its working better!

No problem, but order with tracking and insurance! We have several customers in SA or many other countries. probably it needs 2-3 weeks until you have it at home.

I was on your Site today and tried to order rollers and sliders but it failed due to PayPal not working. Are you aware of this.
I was also in the understanding that because we are overseas we were exempt from the VAT (value added tax) as we will be paying our tax here in Canada and or the USA

I was told by one dealer it would void the warranty here in Canada. I am not sure about bikes but I do know that when I had a VW Golf R I was allowed some mods by my own dealer but others in the country were an absolute no. So I think it's probably a no officially but your own dealer may work with you. Ask!
 
This depends on your dealer.
During warranty you should talk with him before installing other parts. If he agrees, it is no problem. But: The Dr.Pulley rolls reduce the rpm! only during acceleration it is a little higher. Reduced rpm =less wear. And all scooters have a rpm limiter, so it is impossible to get too high rpm.
