2016 650 GT or 2016 Yamaha T Max ?

So for sure most of you lean toward the BMW , but did anyone test out a TMax and if so why did you buy the BMW ?

For me, check with the customers of your local Yamaha and BMW dealerships and see which ones are happiest.

Also, the C650GT has twice the luggage capacity of the TMAX without adding the trunk. It also has anti-lock brakes (which aren't even an option on the TMAX) and you get the better weather protection and superior electrical system that can handle an electric vest or jacket, heated seat and grips.

For me, it was NO contest which is why I traded my 2009 TMAX for the 2013 C650GT four years ago.

Now, if Yamaha were to bring in the 2017 TMAX, that would be a different story altogether. Sadly, they did not.

Thank you for the quick response and informed info . I am leaning towards the BMW because I like euro bikes better for and always have . But it is a big investment and making the rite choice is really important . I read on the Adv Rider that the new TMax is suppose to be quite the ride ,but not being shipped into the states .

Frankly, the ergos of the CGT just fit me better (6'2"). That said, the Tmax is no doubt a great bike.

Agreed 100%. I've been happy with my 2013 C650 but my dealer support sucks and BMW NA wasn't helpful at all when I brought several issues to their attention. As much as I'd like to consider another BMW, I'll probably look at other options next time around. :-(

So I am testing the T Max in a few days and will try to get on a BMW GT the same day . Then it is time to decide . I have been reading up on both the scooters and the BMW offers quite a bit more as far as items . I have a 34 inch inseem and at 6" 1 it seems that the BMW may fit me better . It is really exciting to be considering these fine machines !

Your legs are two inches longer than mine. You will DEFINITELY fit better on the GT. After a long enough time in the saddle, I started feeling cramped on the TMAX. You can not only stretch your legs farther forward on the Beemer, you can also move them farther back, too.

Over The Weekend I rode with around 50 other scooter riders in Jacksonville, FL. A little biased, but my GT was the best looking scoot. Only 1 other BMW there and 1 T Max. A lot of Vespas, which I have to say, looked like a lot of fun to ride. Would not replace my GT but would be a nice addition.

Gateway BMW in the St Louis area has been great. Very helpful and friendly whenever I go in. Based on my experience the past 3 years, I'd buy another BMW without any qualms.

I bought my GT at Gateway as well. They are very customer oriented, a great shop. I had a Vespa 250 prior to the GT and will concur, it was a lot of fun. Sometimes, I wish I still had it. Treated me well for 13,000 miles.

I don't have a Yamaha dealer here in Medford, OR but we do have an excellent family owned BMW dealer. The GT is my third BMW bike after two K1100LTs and they supported all three bikes very well for me. I had to do all the work that needed to be done on my Goldwing because the Honda/Kawasaki dealer here is a real dud. More expensive than BMW too.
