Amsoil or bust

When I go into Amsoil's website they do recommend a 100% synthetic oil for this bike, however, no one in this forum seems to recommend one. Is it that riders who read this forum don't know much about Amsoil or is there not a 100% synthetic oil recommended for this bike. I don't want to use conventional or a blend and any other brand that is not Amsoil doesn't convince me that they are 100%. What are your thoughts?

Just ordered Amsoil for my GT about an hour ago. Switched my 2003 Toyota Tundra 4.7 V8 with 238,000 from Mobil 1 and now am going to switch my GT.

Just don't think it's worth the extra money. Never used it in my 1999 K1200LT and it is still going strong at 178,000 miles with leakdown numbers like a new bike. Doesn't burn any oil, and the only time it leaked was when the gaskets dried out and needed replacing. So what does the extra money spent on Amsoil actually get me? And why should I expect my C650GT to be any different than my K1200LT?

For some it's peace of mind. The difference my be the place the engine was produced.

I use Amsoil in everything I own. In my GT I have Motorcycle 10W-40 and when I do the 6K I will put in Severe Gear 75W-140 in the chain drive as well.

Amsoil seem to be a better product than it claims to be, when was the last time you have experienced that.

I have run 0W-30 in my Volvo for 20K between oil changes and samples come back OK to continue service. Wife has an 01 BMW 3 I change at 15K same results from oil samples. Had an old VW I converted to Amsoil 15W-40 at 100K it ran to 275K and what killed it was a Oak tree fell on it during an ice storm. Remember the use of 100% synthetic will prevent seals from leaking. Some mechanics will say synthetic will cause oil leaks, NO. If you have a bad seal or old seal it will leak, new seals will never have to be changed due to the use of synthetic.

For my money I would use nothing but Synthetic oil.

I remain amazed at the technical expertise on this forum. For those of us that are "mechanically challenged", it is a lot of help.

Dale, welcome. No doubt you will continue to build our forum's knowledge base.
