Thinking about purchasing a Givi XS318 Tunnel Bag has anyone ever used one on C650GT, and if so what was your experience?

I have one. I honestly have not even tried to use it or put it on to try. It is a nice bag, well made and a good size with built-in rain covers, nice features.

I purchased it for use on my Silverwing and I planned to use it on a long trip, it seemed like a perfect way to have items readily available when riding. But I found 2 negative issues with it that prevented me from using it as intended:

1. It blocks the "tunnel" and step through area of a scooter, a big plus of a scooter. And with the seat loaded with a seat bag, dry bag and panniers, it was near impossible to get on the Silverwing without falling over and I imagine the BMW would be worse as it is higher. One thought was to get on and attach it afterwards but that was awkward and #2 was an issue at making that simple. I'm guessing that on the BMW it will block the fuel door and maybe the gloves boxes and you will need to remove it to access these.

2. There was no clean and easy way to attach it, at least on the Silverwing. There are some nice webbed quick clip attachment points that hide away nicely in zippered pockets when carrying the bag around, but finding a good place to attach them to was just not there. I had found some roof rack clips that would have worked but because of #1 you would have had to do that after I mounted and no way to do that without falling over bike and all. I had heard of people adding velcro to bag and tunnel but I didn't want that there for the few times I planned to use it. Others said that i would stay in place between legs without being attached, but I wasn't going to put valuables in there and risk it falling off and when I tried this one time it felt like it shifted so many times I was needing to pay too much attention to the bag to make sure it stayed in place.

Again, I just haven't tried it on the BMW yet so I don't know if it might work better. I've only used it as a carry bag that I throw into my top box a couple times to carry stuff into work.

I can put it on and take some photos so you can see how it fits and if it looks like there may be some attachment points. I'll try and do this in the next day or so and send photos.

Not the GIVI, so this may or may not help.

It cost me about $100 on Amazon. If I had to do it again, I'd get the BMW bag, just because. I use my bag quite regularly. Yes it blocks access to the console, but is easy to move out of the way if I need to get it. Usually I don't have it stuffed full, so I can just push down on the bag and open the console.

As for getting on, it does make it a little more of a challenge. I put the bike on the centerstand, then mount the scooter like a horse, stepping on the floorboard and swinging my leg over.

I have the BMW Tunnel bag, and it works for me, and I have the Kathy Journeys Design handlebar bag which is great too. Add the Dry Spec D38 bag, and I am all pimped out!

Cyclenut, Thanks for the photos that's exactly what I was hoping for. Its hard to judge fitment without seeing the bag on the bike. It does look like a large bag.

Although the extra storage might be nice with the GIVI XS318 bag I decided to purchase a GIVI Easy 105 tunnel bag. It is smaller 15 ltr. and narrower, which actually lets me use my fairing storage compartments with the bag in place. I plan to use it over the next couple of weekends to determine if it was a good purchase or not. It is a much simpler bag compared to the XS318 - no fancy cellphone holder. The biggest reason I bought one of these was so I could have a little extra storage when I take the wife along, so really I probably won't use it all that much.

Grafspee,

Let me know how that works and maybe take a photo with it mounted on the BMW. Maybe the smaller bag would make for easier attachment and on/off through the tunnel.

About where in Southern Illinois are you located? Heading down and east to Indiana in a couple weeks for a fall ride around the Hoosier Forest area.

Hi Grafspee,
First of all greetings from Australia. I was hoping that you might be able to help me. I want to buy the givi EA105b for my c650gt but I'm not entirely sure if it fits well. The problem is there is no local supplier close by, and I have to order if on Line.
Is it possible for you to email me or post a photo of your tunnel bag positioned in the tunnel please?
I want to get it right first time, and not muck around with returns and exchanges.
Thanks for your time.
James. ( loujim )
