Bmw alarm system - how to install

Today I am told one must take off the front cover located behind the windscreen and inside there is a place to ‘push in, plug in maybe’ the bmw alarm module. Has anyone done this and can advise how to take that cover off? There does not appear to be any document bmw provides users to download that show the steps involved. Hope to tackle this task tomorrow.
thank you

@ghostrider4 - While I have not installed an alarm, I have tapped into the socket to power my auxiliary lights. Getting access is pretty easy: a T25 wrench for the windshield, and a T30 wrench for the panel. If you don't have a T25 handy to remove the windshield, there is an emergency one hidden under the front panel. More complete instructions are here:
There is a dummy plug (BMW part 7668405) highlighted in purple. My best guess is that you remove that dummy plug from it's socket and plug the alarm in there.

You might be able to install the hardware, but are you sure the alarm menu option in the console just automagically shows up? I think you will need special software to activate that feature in the console. Plus, activating it so the alarm button on your fob will work may need some software configuration.

Scooter needed an update downloaded, other then that no issues I was told :)
Was charged 1hr labor (take off old screen, screw in alarm after removing cover plate then plug into harness then run scooter update. Last, install new taller bmw screen.
