just sent another email
im so tired of talking about my tensioner a cant say enough
I am gonna call to arms everyone having a problem with these bikes, I put it in my email that in 24 hrs I will begin posting on every forum I can find, car or bike about bmw and there lack of give a shit towards there public
we have paid way to much for these bikes to be putting up with no service
I even tried to get my dealer to order the part and I will put it in myself and I was told bmw wont sell the part because its part of a recall
I would rather do the repair myself then have the dealer put a new enging in my bike and have it for another month or more weve already been through that for the oil leak in the clutch
this problem has been going on since feb 2014 and longer im sure and we cant manufacture these parts fast enough
bmw didn't sell that many c class scooters even world wide
Canada was only like 160 bikes and US was like 1600 bikes
thers no way any manufacturing facility cannot cover these #S IN 8 MONTHES
IM SO SICK AND TIRED OF TALKING ABOUT THIS
FRICK

FOR WHATS ITS WORTH
I just read back a few posts here and
truly I love this bike just went on Yamaha test rides and Suzuki test rides and the burg 650 is a great scooter for scooter people
what the bmw bike gives is a bike and not a scooter feel
its like an automatic bike. it has a real engine sound and performance
so again I love this bike
I get it the internet is a sounding board for people to bitch
I work in automotive service believe me I know
my problem is with no parts availability and the lack of give a shit from who you talk to
dealer or cust serv
its like no one thinks a timing chain making a slapping noise is important
dealer actually said if it dynamites the motor its under warranty so keep on driving
I have never heard someone who knows engines say something like that in my life
hell for now the new fz07 get s lots of mile and not so many on the scoot
24 hrs

gt,

Your credibility jumped about 100% (with me, anyhow) after these comments (too often we get people complaining for other reasons). That said, I will admit I have no real problems so I cannot jump on your bandwagon, as much as you deserve support. My dealer is waiting for parts and has called me twice telling me they are not yet available even though I have no problems.

Still waiting for a side stand support (along with the cam chain tensioner . . . . but who is keeping count). After the dealer has looked at it 3 times, and tightened the bracket, they ordered a new one due to mine is bending. The dealer suggested using the center stand more. I have a fake leg on the left side, there is no way to dismount without putting the side stand down. There is also no way for a passenger to get off with out putting the side stand down first. I was told BMW would ship the bracket asap . . . about a month ago. Hey, with 24.000 miles on this, I can truly say that it has not left me stranded. That is a plus, right? I wouldn't buy another one, but I will drive this one till my extended warranty runs out.

My dealer got a bit perturbed when I wanted to schedule the 24,000 mile service, get the cam chain fix (which would save me $ on the valve adjustment) and get the belt and rollers replaced. No parts, no tools and they want to wait until riding weather is over so they have time (once the parts are available). The bike is a year and 5 months old and was supposed to have been in use in Europe for a year or so before coming to America. Hmmmmmm. My dealer told me that scooter riders in other countries don't log the miles that we do here, so they wouldn't experience the same problems. I have been to the orient back in my service days . . . those people use their scooters like NO ONE in this country will ever do. For them, a scooter is not something kept in the garage for an occasional ride, it is their transportation.

Your right I have been to many countries in Europe and they use there bikes/scooters like we use our cars and trucks BMW and there dealers are very good with the BS and think the consumer knows nothing wait until these engines start breaking down and they have to repair them

Good News! more engine repair parts are finally available! If the tensioner fails and just bends valves, they are now available, and about $40-$50 each.;)

If a valve damages a Piston...not available. Good News! You can buy an entire engine for about $7,200, plus freight, sales tax and R&R/install. About what you PAID for the bike, new...

IMHO if the defective tensioner is the "producing cause" of the valve and piston damage it will be covered under the warranty. That would most certainly be the case in Texas.

I have over 1 year left on my warranty October 12th 2012 and the warranty ends October 12 2015 this was the first in North America. Only in Europe will they be earlier.

I posted that FYI as some original warrantees are coming to an end for earlier buyers...

Gotcha. Got confused with the Spanish Forum, where some early buyers are unloading their C600's as the warrantees are ending in December and they can't take the risk of paying for repairs themselves....

Sorry, guys, for starting a swirl of angry comments. It wasn't my intent - just venting my frustration.

Believe me, I'd rather be posting stories of fun rides and ideas to improve our bikes. I can image sharing a story of how I pulled up alongside one of you at a light, and with a goofy grin say, "damn nice bike ya have there, you're not much to look at, but damn nice bike. First round is on me at the nearest watering hole." That would be a great fun story.

Again, sorry. I guess I just envy those of you having a great experience. Keep having fun but watch out for the other guy.

Hey, no problem. I, for one, am glad you talked about the issues with your bike. Doesn't help you, maybe, but educational for many of the rest of us.

First one's on me.
