BMW Nav V mount

Well my dealer had a Black Friday and Saturday deal on the BMW Nav V unit for $599 so I decided to upgrade my older Garmin Zumo 660. I was surprised (and not) that it didn;t include the mount but at least it works with my current Zumo mount.

Considering the BMW center mount for the C650GT but I modified my center handlebar cover with a power plug so I am not sure the mount will work now. Does anyone have some photos of how the mount is installed and/or maybe a copy of the installation instructions?

My modified cover: IMG_3284.jpg so the mount may not work now.

TwoPort,

When you purchased the mount, did it come with the cradle that powers the GPS or did you need to purchase that extra as well? Right now I am using a cradle from my old Zumo 660 that I modified the wiring to provide power only and mounted to a RAM mount. If the cradle is not included, do you know if the Garmin mount will work with this BMW mount? It looks like you have the cradle with the side 4 button option that allows quick access to functions.

It was installed by the BMW dealer when I took delivery. I wound up getting a replacement Navi form Garmin under warranty.

It did include the four-button mount and wiring harness.

It did not include the metal bracket that mounts to the bike's plastic plastic plate.

Ask your dealer to print out the instructions from their tech computer. They're not included with the mount. Pretty straight forward.

I ended up finding a 4 button cradle on eBay for $100, new never used.

I purchased the BMW mount from Bike Bandit for a couple dollars less than the BMW price. Based upon posts here and my previous experience purchasing BMW parts I didn't expect any instructions or only a minimal diagram similar to the one in the parts finder to explain how to assemble the mount. Instead I received a novel sized manual with instructions in every language know on the the face of earth (well, not really) but the English section was 11 pages and also available in many other languages as well.

Nice little winter farkle project for a cold day or evening...

Finally received the cradle for the Nav V from eBay and finished up the BMW Nav V installation on my C650GT. With my modified center cover that I added USB plugs to it barely fit due to the large portion of the plug housing that is mounted under the center cover and the bracket they use to support the GPS just touch. I ended up painting the cover a metallic black-gray as the cover color didn't actually match when I ordered a replacement and the new models have a black part now anyways. The cover has the template for the holes molded into the plastic and the bar has a mark to help align the bracket so BMW has made it pretty easy to do if you want to spend the money on the center mount. I figured I saved about $300 between the Black Friday deal and buying the mount on eBay. Still an expensive proposition for a GPS and mount. All working and powers up, just need a bit warmer weather to try out on the road.
