Brake pad change on the 650 Gt , Brake fluid level

Hi everyone, I bought mine (2014) 10 month ago with 46000 Km on it. The Brake pads ,front and rear looked worn, but the sight glass showed not even a " bubble".
So the reservoir was full and there was also no upper marker on it . Do I have to reduce the brake fluid in the reservoir before I push the calliper back to make/ allow room for the new and thicker brake pads ? On my other sym 400 I have an "Upper/Max mark" but not on the BMW . Any advice would be much appreciated. Norman

The upper and lower markers are inside the reservoir. Since you're not seeing a bubble, it's full and maybe even overfilled, which means pushing the calipers out could force fluid to squeeze out the top of the reservoir, and brake fluid would be nasty on this bike's tupperware. I'd open the cover and check it out. And if you're doing that, you may as well change the fluid since there are 46,000 km on the bike (fluid is DOT 4).

Many thanks, Delray.
You helped me out again. I would never thought that they are in the inside. I have a larger syringe and can use it, to reduce the fluid. I realise what brake fluid can do. Thanks ,Norman.
I will do the new brake fluid as well, later.
