C600 Looks Fast

So my C600 must look fast. I had some dipwad in a Volvo T5 literally trying to drag race me at a light yesterday. The street had a 55 mph speed limit. I tend to accelerate pretty hard at stop lights to get away from cars for my own safety. This guy absolutely did not want me to out accelerate him. I could hear his car engine and he was pretty much floored. I had him up to about 65-70mph, but backed off because I wasn't intending to race the guy, but he kept on going like fast and furious. I thought it was kind of funny.

Same with me, yesterday and a guy in a BMW 750. He got PISSED that I was ahead of him after the light changed, so halfway to the next light he comes blazing by at about 80mph. Dork. Next light, I pulled in next to him, hit it FULL throttle this time and just left him. Legal? No. Wise? Not so much. Feel GOOD...YES!

It's best when you KNOW there's a cop ahead. Bait him, rev your engine like crazy... then when the light turns green, take off like you usually do.

Make sure to smile and wave at him while he's taking his wallet out for the nice policeman...

Hmmm? My 650 GT seems quick for a scooter, especially one as heavy as it is, but I never really considered it fast. But maybe it is quicker than I think. Does anyone know the 0-60 times on these bikes? My guess is they are probably somewhere in the high 7 second range, and if so that is ok, but not really all that fast by today's standards.

I don't know about 0-60... But I will say that between 30 to 70 it really trucks along surprisingly quick, I have zero issues in California traffic staying as far away from the knuckleheads as I need to. It's just not geared for sprinting and she's a heavy one at 550 lbs.

I've seen numbers posted anywhere from 5.5 to 7.5 seconds. The BMW technical manual says 7.1 for C600 and 7.5 for C650. It feels like low to mid 6s to me based on highly accurate butt-o-meter. I know it is rare that any car can out run me at a light other than faster sports cars which leads me to believe it to be a little faster than posted. The jump from 30-70 is very fast in my experience. Most of the time seems to be lost with the clutch lag.

Between the clutch lag, an overly lean mixture and less timing advance for higher claimed in-city mileage, it's over 7 seconds to 100kph/60mph, even for the lighter C600Sport.

EXACT same bike with Dr. Pulleys and a HIT clutch drops it down to low-to-mid fives. With a Mallossi variator and Power Commander V ...UNDER 5 seconds!

A lot of people hate bikes. I used to get all jazzed about the other idiots either riding up my tailpipe or being otherwise hostile. (To be fair, Boston is a pretty hostile environment for any vehicle you're riding - though not as bad as Rome.) Now, I just keep as much distance as I can all around from cagers, and make myself as visible as I can (wearing day glo orange and green a lot these days). They have all kinds of safety systems in their rides if they do something stupid. All I have is my gear. No contest.

Aside from the drag racers, and stop me if this is just me, I've noticed just a lot of general crazy on the highways. This weekend I went up to Northern Wisconsin and back. I found that there was just a plethora of folks that wanted to get up in my tailpipe. Especially SUV's. I have no idea what it is either because I ride at a pretty quick clip on the Interstate here at about 75 - 80 mph but clearly not fast enough for most people.

Using the Dyne and my clutch setup to grabbing at 3500 rpm, I get 5.8 to 6.1 0-60... I plan to hit the drag strip to get tickets for cinfirmation....

this weekend i went to oulton park circuit to watch BSB and took the M6 motorway on the way home, sat at some crazy speed outa nowhere a guy on a fireblade came steaming up behind me:rolleyes: so i moved over and let him past. he really looked uncomfortable tucked in behind his screen against quite a strong headwind, got past then sat there at the speed i was already traveling at  so......i sat behind him for mile after mile sat bolt upright, hahahaha. why do they have to try and prove a point???
at one point i did hit the limiter following him
