CE-04 Killer?

I just visited this site and watched their video: Horwin SK3

Gotta say, without having actually ridden one, it seems impressive. Although it has a lower top speed, it has better range (with extended battery option), more accessible storage, a nearly equally large dashboard. At 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost of a CE-04, the compromises may be worth it.

Definitely not trading in my CE-04, but this is probably a more viable option for those wanting an electric scooter.

Scooters in general are way more popular overseas. I would be surprised if it makes it to the states, but there is something to be said about a manufacture making bikes for as long as BMW has. It looks cool and good on paper. I would say that is a definite city/urban bike where as the 04 is more of a hybrid between urban and suburban. Really depends on the target audience.

The Horwin SK3 looks like a great addition to the competition - but it's a slightly different and much smaller beast than the CE-04:

- Battery size: 2.52 kWh - 1/3rd the size of CE-04's battery
- 6.2 kW (8 HP) - 1/5th the power of a CE-04
- 90 kph (55 mph) maximum speed - 30% less than the CE-04
- Range (with second battery): 160 km - 25% more than the CE-04

Why is the Horwin SK3 (WMTC) so much more? It's because they measured it at 45 km/h (27 mph)!

In other languages, you can find more realistic range specs on Horwin's site: "* 50km (con conductor de 75kg a 60km/h)". The range with a rider, riding at 60km/h (37 mph) is listed as 50km (30 mi). If you add the battery, you can imagine a range of roughly 60 miles at 37 mph. At those speeds, a CE-04 should yield at least 70 miles (110 km).

I'd compare weight, but the SK3 website only publishes the weight without a battery, and I couldn't find an equivalently dumb weight spec for the CE-04.
