DIMOTIV Carbon Pads installed with Pics

Here is the homepage: http://www.dmv.com.tw/html/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=371071

I ordered from Amazon; it said it would be $25 shipping for each set but Amazon subtracted the shipping so I didn't pay that. Also, it said it would take 6-8 weeks for delivery; instead it took 7 days.

I'm not the best at this sort of thing, fine detail type stuff. So not everything is lined up perfectly but it's ok. It's also hard to tell from the pics since most of the pads went over the black plastic.

I've purchased the very same kit, but have yet to install it. I finally received my scooter just this past Saturday so it will go on soon. I also purchased several of Dimotiv's anodized aluminum accent pieces as well. And so that everyone knows, Dimotiv products are manufactured in Taiwan and not in Germany as I was originally led to believe. Their products, especially the aluminum pieces, seem well made so I doubt there will an issue with fitment. I'll try and upload some photos once I'm done with the install.

They are for looks and protection. I think it may be a little "too much". I'll have to see how I feel about them from a looks standpoint, some may have to go. But, about half of them are in areas where scuff marks can and do occur. We'll see.

Jethroaz, you'll need to use the web page to figure out where things go, at least I did anyway. I considered a few of the accent pieces as well. I would opt for the titanium color; not crazy about the gold and I already have enough black. Which did you get?

I am thinking about the side stand enlarger, crash pads, and exhaust bracket.

Sweet job, Greyhound! I clicked on the pics and then hit the enlarge icon. Very nice accents!

Now get those really nice windshield adjuster knobs!

Thanks Skutorr. Maybe I will get the adjuster knobs.

And hey, I didn't realize you could get full screen of those pictures. For those who like me didn't know, there is a magnifying glass icon when the photobucket page opens. click it and you get a full screen close up. You can then see pretty much all of the pads pretty clearly. Maybe I'll get a couple of pics of the rest of the pads, some are around the headlights and near the tail light area.

Grey.Hound, thanks for the pics and I agree, I had to reference your photos and the whatever photos or diagrams I could find on their webpage. I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out what goes where, but after getting to about 50% complete with the install, the remaining pieces made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. So, after thinking I was doing something wrong and after hearing me cursing up a storm in the garage, my girlfriend came to offer her support by telling me that the package I received was mislabeled and that the remaining pieces don't fit on my scooter. I told her that I knew what I was and had been doing to the whole time and that she was what was wrong. I just wasn't looking at things correctly............

About an hour later, I embarrassingly and finally came to the conclusion that she was correct (DOH!). The package I received WAS incorrectly labeled so some of the pieces were not cut for my bike.

Needless to say that after that, it was a rather interesting evening at home. I would have much rather slept in the garage than admit to her that she was right the entire time.

I'm calling these things a bust. They aren't staying on correctly. I have been in contact with Dimotiv and they have been cooperative. They first want to ship me a knew set after they try another set on their own bike I guess. Today, I had even more come loose after sitting in my garage for the past week, not even being ridden. I proposed sending different products if they haven't sent the knew pads already. We'll see.

I agree with you on the product being a bust. The pieces that I installed on the black plastic panels are peeling off quicker than thee pieces I installed on the painted bodywork panels. I thought for sure the pieces installed on the painted bodywork would stick well, but once again, that's what I get for thinking.

Send them an email. They emailed me today saying they are using a new adhesive; we'll see.

I see a lot of their stuff being sold on eBay and it certainly looks interesting, but this thread is certainly giving me pause...

I've also purchased several pieces of their anodized aluminum dress-up parts, such as their frame plugs, the swingarm pulley cover, wind screen adjuster knobs, the rear shock spring protector cover, radiator protector cover and exhaust support bracket. So far I've installed the frame plugs, the rear shock spring cover and the pulley cover. All fit perfectly and look great. I'm not going to install the exhaust bracket until I get the Akrapovic exhaust can, but I'm a little worried about digging in to the radiator protector cover and the windscreen adjustment knob install. I've seen how they get installed on my Ducati Multistrada and I'm a little concerned about removing the stock units in fear of getting myself in to something that may be over my head with possibly having to remove lots of plastic bodywork without having a factory manual on hand. I'm am a mechanically inclined person, but these operations could end up being a little tricky. Oh, and none of the pieces come with installation instructions, but again, most are a simple procedure, just make certain you have the correct sized metric Torx bits on hand before you start. I'll let you know how the windscreen adjuster install goes later this week.

The web page, as we both noted have some form of instructions but yeah, real instructions would be nice. Good luck.

I had ordered a set of the carbon pads for my C650GT along with the side stand enlarger before I saw the negative experience on this thread.

The main thing I wanted was the pad that protects the area around the ignition key, which of course is peeling off.

I'll hand it to their customer support, they had a new pad in the mail the next day along with some cleaning pads. I installed that yesterday, and it doesn't seem to be sticking well. I'll give it a couple more days then decide if I want to become more aggressive with the adhesive.

Basically, anything installed on a flat surface appears to be adhering well. Anything installed on a slightly curved surface is peeling off.

I sort of understand - getting the right adhesive is a tricky balancing act. Get too aggressive, and the product damages the underlying surface when it comes off. Not aggressive enough, and it peels off easily.

Same here. They sent me a new set but I haven't installed them yet. As you said, the curved parts don't stick as well as the flat.

Try Shoe-Goo. It will hold it and fairly easy to remove and won't damage the plastic. I use it all the time to secure things in my offroad RC cars. If it can hold an electronic speed control to my car's chassis after bottoming out the suspension from a 10 foot high jump, it will hold that little piece down.

Just put the new set of pads on. They definitely seemed better than the original. Time will tell. I did not put all of them on, just a few selective pads. putting them all on was overkill.
