Ear Cannon

I couldn't agree with you more. The "horn" on the "C" series is a complete joke. I plan to look at this model you are discussing and see if I can figure out someplace to tuck it in. There has to be some aftermarket horn that says MOVE instead of excuse me, please........

Yep. The horns on the C series are wimpy! I have purchased a very similar compact air horn but I couldn't find anywhere to fit it yet!
I think we need to go with a air horn with separate air compressor and horns to be able to fit it in our bikes.

Just saw that Aerostich has these things on sale. Has anyone figured out how to mount one of these? Space sure is tight under the plastic...

I can't comment on horn mounting/placement for the BMW scooters, but I did purchase and install a "Stebel Nautilus" on my Vespa scooter and a "WOLO Big Boy" on my Royal Enfield motorcycle and they both sound exactly like the wav sample for the "Ear Canon" from the above link. FWIW, neither installation was problematic. While the horn sound improvement is immense, none of them live up to their claims of being similar to an ocean liner or a locomotive.

Webbike world installed a dual horn they also have on their sites a sound comparison of this setup and the original horn.

I bought one of those air horns and could not find a location under the side panel (and I have more room on my scooter in Canada than scooters in the USA). When I had my k75 I had an air horn (cars moved out of my way fast as it was like a truck) and the compressor was separate from the horn. I still have the compressor but no horn.

When it gets warmer out I am going to open the plastic up some more and see if I can get it behind the radiator or another area.

I looked around for an air horn that is separate from the compressor but no luck

I went to our auto supply joint today and picked up a horn to try the following, as I suspected it came apart in two pieces now this changes everything as now I should have room to mount the horn I just have to connect a tube between the two parts. I can remove the plastic that held the compressor in place to make it small.

Try and find a place to mount it (no room under the front end).
Try under the floor boards then show us pictures.

I just heard the Stebel Nautilus Compact Dual Air Horn that my riding buddy installed on his GTS and WOW!!!! When the advertising compares these to a freight train, I'd say that is an accurate description. At only $50 and small enough to fit on a Vespa I think Ill be buying a set for my bike.

I was totally impressed and thought I would pass along the info.

You must have a GT. I don't have my bike here to look at, but I'd venture to think this unit should fit on the stock mount on a Sport. Considering I don't have the same headlight arrangement or the mechanisms for the electric screen our space may vary. As soon as I get my bike back from BMW, I'll sort it out and report back.

Yes indeed, need to change the horn on the scooter. You'd think when BMW could put a horn on my '94 K1100LT that cracks windows a block away they could have done better on the scooter.

Budget cutting. My K1200LT sounds like a 60's era Buick when I hit the horn. My scooter sounds like... well... a scooter.

I have the same airborne but I yet to find a place to install it on my GT! And I have done lots of mods. I am actually planning to find a air horn that has separate complements so I can possibly install the air pump in a separate location (ie back of the bike) and route the air hose to the front horns that I am among to install right under the auxiliary PIAA lights.

One of the downsides to mounting the components separately is the delay that can be induced. The compressor now has to build pressure in the (much longer) hose before the air horn is activated. Add to that the normal delay that the compressor takes to 'spin up' and you may see a unwanted delay.

I'm not denigrating your idea - separate components are definitely much easier to mount - but you may create a longer delay between pressing the horn button and the horn actually sounding.

Would a fork clamp offer a solution to the space issue on the gt? Something like this could easily handle a unit like the Nautilus.

Just have to make sure whatever you mount there doesn't slam into the bodywork at full lock left or right...

I can't imagine installing the Nautilus somewhere visible like on the forks. It is very ugly! :)
I think I will try to install the one with individual components. I think I can install the pump pretty close to to horns. Somewhere in the upper fork cavity. I can probably install the pump under the steering bar cover but that maybe too far. I
have to check.
