You will gain a SMALL increase in horsepower... but if you're looking for an improvement in PERFORMANCE, then it sounds like the Dr. Pulley modification recommended by SkuTorr is your BEST bet.

Isn't a muffler only going to change the noise? Seems like some of the guys here took off their akro and returned to stock. I'd think that a set of straight headers would help by removing the CAT.

I would think a four stroke engine would need a timing advance/retard and fuel remapping as well as multi-angle valve machining and possibly a slight change to compression to get any substantial HP increases. Basic head and tune program.

I've not looked too much into it as I don't use all the available power as it is so for me, I'm quite happy with my Sport the way I got her.

The change in the exhaust will only increase the HP from Idle up to 2000 or 3000 rpm. after that it evens out. now that being said, with a pulley upgrade you my not see the improvement of the exhaust as it would be a gain under the usable rpm range. at most you ramp up faster to the clutch engagement. especially if you don't remove the cat for more free-flow. the muffler just adjust the sound and looks at that point.
The easiest and best adjustment you can make is the pulley weights, Dr. Pully or others. My case, I put $1500 in to cat removal, dyno-jet controller, custom tunes, K&N filter, Dr. Pulley Clutch (BMW shop installed), and Polini Variator and mixed weights. My Dyno is up from 47hp at the Wheel to 52WHP. compared to cars, WAY cheaper for more % increase. I enjoy it, my launch is strong and there are times it is a little scary.

I think the Clutch, made the most difference in ride ability, it engages much smoother and on easy take off and hard take off. it engages at 3200rpm.

hope that helps.

I think the only reason I'd consider an Akrapovic (or ANY after market) exhaust on my C650GT would be to enjoy the pure ABSURDITY of having an Akrapovic exhaust on a SCOOTER. That and some carbon fiber bits.

Let's see what this year's "Annual Bonus" looks like first...

I had installed a Yoshimura exhaust and Power Commander module on my Burgman 650 just because it was over-the-top. Performance and sound were enhanced - but mostly sound.

I did the same, even with a custom tune it never got more than 45hp at the rear. when I traded it in for the BMW, I took it all off and sent to my father who put it on his Burgman.

I fitted an Akra just for the absurdity of it and unfortunately I have fallen in love with the sound. I have even removed the db killer and I love the looks when people realise it's a scooter... I love the ridiculousness of it all.... it will stay.

I was checking out the sound deadening material in the EASTWOOD catalog. Maybe that will be my winter project, making my scoot quieter. I will be able to go faster, cause I won't have to worry about waking up the cops who are taking naps or texting their girlfriends !!
