extended warranty?

They want $1,030 to extend the warranty from 3yr/36mth (think that is what comes with the bike) to unlimited miles/60 months (probably not worried about raking up a zillion miles on a e-bike due to limited battery range). Any reason to fill it is worth spending the $ for it? Seems the bike is too new to be aware of any long term issues.

IMHO, I wouldn't buy the extended warranty for any vehicle except one that is highly failure prone. The CE-04 doesn't appear to fit that category so far.

I agree with Tom, your wasting your money on extended warranty. The beauty of an EV or EB the only moving parts in the drive-train is the motor and trans-axle.

In addition with the CE's high regen braking, more than likely you'll never touch the brake pads. Which is leads us to the BMW hoax of pad replacement as normal service. Someone needs to tell the Pencil Heads at BMW this bike has regenerative braking which is doing possibly 90% of the braking. Another service hoax is the cable brake on the kick stand does not need servicing nor lubrication nor do we want someone adjusting our drive belt on the basis of what they think is tight enough by flicking the belt.

This is the reason not one of my many bikes has ever been serviced by a dealer. If you thought service was bad (and expensive) before, keep in mind there is zero chance that anyone in a dealership knows anything about electric bikes. Those who drive EV's know exactly what I'm talking about, even now that EV's have been out for over a decade, dealers still don't have a clue how to troubleshoot or repair an electric car.

I wouldn't pay a cent. I had the Evo for 4 years, 25,000 miles on it, and the only thing that it needed was the break fluid changed every other year.

Same here a lot of pressure when I sign, when I toll the sale director that he didn't believe in what he sold, he stop right there... And don't forget we have 5 years warranty on the battery I forgot the KM max but still 5 years.

Mr. EZ sounds like you're the expert on the EVO putting that many miles on it. I sure would like to hear your thoughts comparing your CE 04 to your Evo as far as comfort, handling, range, travel or what ever is on your mind. Thanks in advance - Mike

It depends. They do have value. If you plan on selling it before the original warranty runs out, or near that point, it would not make sense for the most part. However, used vehicles with factory transferrable warranties tend to sell faster, and for a higher price, than those without, all things being equal. If you plan on driving the heck out of it and keeping it for years, and you are not mechanically inclined or just don't want to work on your bike, and extended warranty might make sense. Others do not have the space to work on their bikes or have physical limitations preventing self-service repairs. The TFT is 1500.00 bucks according to another post here or over on Advrider. $1000.00 seems pretty reasonable as it extends the warranty for a full seven years (here in the USA), bumper to bumper excluding wear items. 12 bucks a month for 7 years peace of mind seems pretty cheap and not a ridiculous sum to pay. I know some owners say they can never get things covered under a factory warranty, but I have never had that experience. Every defect/failure i have ever had has always been repaired under warranty (have not had a BMW claim though). Different experiences for different people, I guess. Definitely a subjective decision whether or not it is right for you.
