Handguards for the winter?

Between heated hand grips and gloves I don't see a reason for the hand guards. On my Burgman 650 it would be more hand as I don't have heated grips. On the C 650 GT the grips will keep your hands warm with good glove down to very cold temperatures and I won't ride without high quality gloves for protection from all the road hazards and or possible get offs.

I had installed a set of GS hand guards on my first K100, but I soon figured out they really didn't make any difference other than keeping my hands a little drier in a downpour. After that experience, I never bothered.

Yes indeed, heated grips, heated seat, Gerbings jacket liner and G3 gloves. What winter? Global warming has already happened on my scooter. Seriously though the combination of the heated grips and gloves is a great match. The grips warm your palms and part of your fingers while the gloves heat the outside of you hand and fingers. Really does the job. Since I got the GT in February I got to test my gear down to 26F and for the first time in years was completely comfortable and warm on a bike at highway speed in freezing weather. Lovely. A fleece scarf does a nice job of controlling the air leakage at the collar and bottom of the helmet.

I kept having my scarf leak spikes of cold air so I went back to a balaclava and fleece neck warmer. Coupled with the other stuff you mention, I too am very comfortable at low temps.
