While this may be different from your situation - make sure the kick stand start block out switch has not gotten lose. It happened to me and would not start. I was able to manually get it back. But the pop under the seat does sound very strange and I had no experience like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I think the fuel pump is located just under the seat, near the hinge.

If that's correct, it sounds like you could possibly have a fuel pump failure..

If your switches are all in the correct position, lift the seat take the cover off the fuel pump and check that it is making crack pressure for the injectors (check to see if the pump is running). If the engine does not turn over you have other problems. Make sure your E-10 gas has not turned to water. Every second tank of fuel I add Amsoil Quickshot to prevent alcohol separation in the fuel, you use what ever you want but use something.

I do much the same, use a shot of gasoline additive to undo what the damnable alcohol does. A couple of times in the three years I've owned the bike it's had a bit of a starting problem. A shot of additive in the tank every couple tank fulls and no more problem. I've been using Star Brite mostly. Trying BMW's own bran now since the dealer gave me a bottle to try out. We have a couple stations here that sell pure 93 octane but they both charge fifty cents more per gallon. I can't blame them since it's another tank and pump to maintain that doesn't sell all that much. But my bikes have all performed better, more oomph and better mileage on real gas.
