Looks like it would be effective in stopping a bike going down in softer ground which is the reason I started the thread. I know you can bring your own plate and put it under for the odd occasion it's needed but for sure I would forget to pick it up after.

The beer can model is ubiquitous and found near most riders!!

I carry a small plate I cut from 1/8" aluminum scrap. A cord attached to it has a loop I put over the end of the handlebar. Prevents forgetting to pick it up and you don't have to pick it up until you're on the bike with the side stand raised.
