Hi All... Just ridden 210 miles in awful driving wind and rain from home in Dorset to Liverpool...... Off to IOM TT practice week tomorrow morning.... It's was a synch on my c650gt..... And on one tank of petrol! The more I ride this bike the more I love it..... I've owned sooo many different bikes and scooters over the years but nothing comes close when you have a long journey to make and the British weather is doing its worst!

Cheery oh, mates!

Man oh man, if I had a British accent the women be would all over me......Of course my wife might have a problem with that but a guy can dream:rolleyes:

PS. Wylie7...yellasei is a good guy to know. He has helped me with questions I had about my C650GT (as has my pal Doraeman). And I agree wholeheartedly, the bike is a blast!

I love my scoot also. At this stage it fits my riding needs better than any other scooter I've owned... and I've owned a number of them looking for the right fit. As far as accents and American women - they like Australian, New Zealand and South African accents too ... sorry my British friend. In fact, American women seem to be suckers for almost any accent other than a New York Accent or a heavy mid-western accent. I think it harkens back to our colonial mentality where everything from Europe was believed to be superior.

Me too, the more I ride this scooter the more I like and appreciate it. I like riding my K1100LT but when it comes to going on errands and fighting town traffic the scooter wins hands down. The scooter with it's top box on can carry as much as the LT with it's top box and saddlebags and does it more conveniently. Not to mention the scooter is thinner and easier to park. I'll admit the LT is smoother on the highway when you're cruising at 75mph due mostly to it's larger wheels and somewhat softer suspension in the front fork, and I like to go through the gears in the twisties, but with it's 72,000 miles and twenty years of age it's more of a vintage machine than the 2013 GT. The old LT is in very good condition but I trust the newer machine's reliability more. The only thing I don't like as much on the scooter is the noise. The engine's exhaust is LOUD, I don't know if it's a resonance in the CAT or just vibrations in the engine but the racket isn't coming from the exhaust pipe. I'm not the only one who's ridden it and mentioned the noise level. Oddly, if you lean forward and put your head down low the noise seems to disappear. Eventually I'll find the source and do something about it.

Everytime I ride my 650 someone comes up to me and says they didn't know BMW made scooters. The latest was an old HD rider with bad knees who asked me where the Cleveland Dealers were.

I just wish that there was a better name than "scooter".

I love scooters, big and small. I'm also part Italian so that might explain it. No shame in the word scooter.

I don't know how many times over the years of riding BMW that people would ask me, "When did BMW started making motorcycles." Or simply state, " I didn't know BMW made motorcycles."

I hear the same thing. BMW motorcycle history is longer than BMW car history. It used to be a motorcycle company that made a few cars.

After the First world war, they weren't allowed to build planes anymore, so they turned their expertise into motorcycles (IIRC). Cars came later.
