Mirror Stalk Blind Spot LED's?

As I'm going to mod my rear top case with Admore lights I thought about the new (except not for us in the US) mirror stalk warning lights and how they flash with turning signals.

It made me wonder about mounting some smallish (I don't want to blind myself) yellow LED light on the stalk and connecting it to the existing LED light (since I have the more awesome GT). It would be facing backwards.

My idea was if someone was in my blind area and I turned on my turn signal they would at least see it flashing whereas they otherwise might not really see anything. I'm just thinking about anything that gives me an edge against accidents....

I see more vehicles with turn signal lights in the side mirrors you can see from behind so this pretty much implements that concept.

Does this sound reasonable or am I overdoing the lights?

If they can be that close to see the light, you shouldn't be turning anyways. I would go with the over thinking!

The only problem with turn signal lights in the mirrors or on the stalks is that they are pretty bright when riding at night possibly interfering with night vision.

Thanks for the replies. The more effective they would be for other drivers to see the more distraction for the rider. Those LED's an be a real eye drill.

This is it - but they're expensive so I have to wait a bit...

I've been looking at these since before I even got my bike. I've also seen some posts about them here in the forum. One question that I have about them is the connectors. Does the supplied wiring have connectors that plug onto the existing turn signals or do they use "Scotchlock" type splicers? I've never trusted those things.

The Posi-tap connectors seem to well. They came with the Admore lights I used for my top case and seem to have enough precision for this kind of application. I think some of them also have a dual color light option - running and turn signal.

I looked up some information on the Posi-taps and it looks like they are well liked and durable. As for the running/flashing colors, Schroedie offers four running light colors with yellow flasher - http://www.schroedie.de/en/For-BMW-...port-two-colour-BMW-roundel-badge-lights.html . Here in Idaho or neighboring Washington State the red or blue running lights would get you pulled over in no time flat!
