Napa Road Water Damage

I took a ride in the awesome weather over Oakville Grade. One of my fav. twisty roads. The road damage was surprising for being on a "mountain" area. Some large water saturated trees fell on the road so lots of cut sections on the sides of the road. At least 3 road sections washed out where about 1/3 of the lane asphalt chunked. Too dangerous for pics this time. But here's a couple to give you an idea of the area. It is interesting to see how many roads are washing out in many places as the drought goes away.

Yep. Went out for a bit yesterday and today. Same thing. Road signs everywhere and "rivers" flowing through places that they don't belong. A few places that had been dry creek beds for the past 5 years had water flowind 15-20 across.

I live 130 miles Northeast of the Oroville Dam, and I sure hope that it holds! The community down there has been evacuated. We had flooding locally last week, and we're expecting more rain on Thursday. Maybe time to trade the bike in for a Zodiac!!

Never try to ride through moving water especially when it is across pavement.

Good call. For this situation - it wasn't more than 1/4" running over in some sections. In California they'll close the road pretty quick if gets higher.

That damn dam is big news all over the country. Concerned about the next rain fall for sure.
