Oil Level

Is there a trick to getting the Oil display to work? Manual says that it will show if the oil level is OK as long as:

  • Bike is at operating temp
  • Side-stand is up
  • Bike has idled for at least 10 seconds

I went for a ride this morning and checked at every stop light it always shows "_ _ _"

Yes, scooter must be stopped. Here is a pic from the owner's manual:

Oil level indicator

The oil level display 1 provides
information on the oil level in the
engine. This display can only
be activated when the vehicle is
stopped.

The conditions required for using
the oil level display are as follows:

- Engine at normal operating temperature.
- Engine idling for at least ten seconds.
- Side stand retracted.

Displays
Maxi-Scooter is positioned vertically.
The displays which may appear
in positions 1 and 2 mean the
following:
OIL OK: oil level correct.
OIL CHECK: check oil level during
next refueling stop.
OIL ---: no measurement possible
(above-mentioned conditions
not met).

I read that section, but I am not getting a display. I've been stopped at several red lights for well over 10 seconds and no display. I've also sat on bike in garage after a ride and waited while idling - no luck.

It's not that big of a deal, but it is a hassle to check the oil with the stick. The bike has a few months warranty left - I suppose I could have the dealer look at it.

Maybe your oil level sensor is not working properly. My display shows 'oil level ok' almost as soon as I stop.
