I brought home "Snoopy." Not QUITE 10,000 miles on the odometer today. I must be getting old... :p

A milestone for sure..Congrats! But, to be honest, Jaime, I prefer the Hooter Girls on your bike.

Congratulations on the milestone(s).

I bought my C600 for myself on my 45th wedding anniversary. I thought I deserved it, she would not have likely bought it for me and now I get to easily remember on what date my anniversary falls.

Coincidentally, 15 years ago today I brought home "The Enterprise" (my 1999 BMW K1200LT). 15 years, and 181,000 miles and I still love that thing. I told a friend of mine years ago (who offered to buy it when I was ready to get rid of it) "When I'm ready to get rid of this thing, you won't want it." He now understands that I was SERIOUS.

I've owned a lot of bikes over the past 55 years but this past February was the first time I ever bought a BMW. I don't know why but it just worked out that way. The scooter impressed me enough that I also bought my '94 K1100LT from the same dealer. The two bikes just seem to go together. I wish I could have bought the LT when it was newer but even now with 72k on the clock it's still a great looking and riding bike. I've only had these two bikes for six months and only put about 4000 miles total on them but then I definitely am getting old and don't, or haven't, taken any long road trips on either one. Yet. It will be interesting to see how many mile I can run up when I've got a year on these two. I know one thing for sure, they're keepers. It would be nice to get an early '90s R bike though... I find it hard to believe you can find these great bikes (not counting the scooter) for such low prices. What a deal.

I remember being impressed by the K1100LT when it first came out, but the K1200LT just blew me away. The LT is the THIRD BMW I've owned. My first was a 1985 K100. I had that for ten years and put 158,000 miles on that one. It was actually stolen from the local train station almost ten years to the day from when I'd taken it home. It was never recovered and I still miss that thing. Best "All Around" bike I've ever owned. I soon replaced that with a 1996 R100RT (the last year for the classic "airheads"). I put 40,000 miles on that one before I sold it to a friend of mine in 2000. By that time I'd had the K1200LT and owning TWO BMW tourers didn't make any sense, especially when the larger LT was far more capable and flexible than I'd imagined it would be. I replaced the R100RT with the first of three Buell motorcycles (I owned in succession an M2 Cyclone, an XB12Ss Lightning Long and an 1125R) before I decided sport bikes made NO sense here on Long Island. That's when I got the TMAX. Had that for little over a year before I realized I couldn't find a competent Yamaha mechanic anywhere convenient. Traded the TMAX in for the C650GT last year and here we are today.

The stories about what brought each owner to their Beemer is interesting. Mine is different than many on this forum. I have not owned a lot of bikes and had not ridden anything on two wheels for decades prior to buying my c650gt. In fact I had no touring bike experience having only owned dirt bikes and a dual sport many many years ago. And I put no where near the miles a touring rider would put on their bikes. For me, the decision to buy another PTW just happened one day while in one of my friends garage; he was parting out a klr650 and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed riding motorcycles. The Beemer came about as a result of a lot research. I have since tried others and ended up buying another klr just to mix things up and get back in the dirt once in awhile....although I admit the legs are pretty much shot and anything other than a gravel road or packed trail is getting to be too much for me at this stage. My c650gt is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.
