I remember being impressed by the K1100LT when it first came out, but the K1200LT just blew me away. The LT is the THIRD BMW I've owned. My first was a 1985 K100. I had that for ten years and put 158,000 miles on that one. It was actually stolen from the local train station almost ten years to the day from when I'd taken it home. It was never recovered and I still miss that thing. Best "All Around" bike I've ever owned. I soon replaced that with a 1996 R100RT (the last year for the classic "airheads"). I put 40,000 miles on that one before I sold it to a friend of mine in 2000. By that time I'd had the K1200LT and owning TWO BMW tourers didn't make any sense, especially when the larger LT was far more capable and flexible than I'd imagined it would be. I replaced the R100RT with the first of three Buell motorcycles (I owned in succession an M2 Cyclone, an XB12Ss Lightning Long and an 1125R) before I decided sport bikes made NO sense here on Long Island. That's when I got the TMAX. Had that for little over a year before I realized I couldn't find a competent Yamaha mechanic anywhere convenient. Traded the TMAX in for the C650GT last year and here we are today.
