Everyone

Just test rode a 2013 C600 Sport over at the local BMW dealer. The scooter has 950 miles and is in perfect shape.

I have a 2013 Kawasaki C14 that I am thinking of selling as I really don't need a big sport touring rig for my commuting. Has anyone come from a sport touring rig to the C600?

The C600 runs really good on the freeway and I was surprised how well it ran.

Any pearls of wisdom to share before I buy this scooter?

Thanks Mark

Hey Mark,

Welcome to the gang. A bunch of experience here on the forum with sport tourers, including BMW Ks and Rs, GWs (sport tourer??...sorta), dual sports, etc. As a mid-size touring machine the BMW C bikes do a pretty good job. In fact, the whole maxi-scooter class is somewhat of a hidden gem....except to the thousands of bike people that own one. I doubt you'll be disappointed if you buy one.

Thanks Steve

I never thought I might own a scooter as I have always had bikes like ZRX1200, Street Triple and now C14. Time will tell and another test ride will be needed.

I'm working my way in the opposite direction. I've grown from Piaggio and Vespa scooters with 150cc, 250cc, and 330 cc engines. I'm loving my new C650 Sport now but I'm still wanting something bigger. Though I really have no need for something bigger. The c650 sport does everything I need it to do and more.

Try something in the 800 size. BMW and Triumph are two that are a little bigger hp/torque/ergos. Not nearly as convenient as the BMW C series but tons of fun.

Go back to the BMW dealer and test drive everything they have. Then go to bike rally's where they have demos of other brands. Some people aren't happy till they have had the biggest and fastest, then they down size. When I was in high school I started riding with a CB 160 Honda. Rode it for two months, then bought a HD Hydra Glide, which at the time was about the biggest bike you could buy (60's). Even at 17 yoa, I thought riding the HD was like driving an empty dump truck. Lots of torque and power I didn't need. After a couple of years, I downsized to a Bridgestone 350 , a two stroke smoker that would blow off a lot of it's contemporaries larger in size, and was also a decent tourer. For me, 650cc's does everything I need, as I am a touring guy, with nothing to prove. When I think of larger bikes, it's usually the thought of more comfort that attracts me rather than power or speed.
Out for a ride today, I saw a young guy on a Hyabusa, a bike very fast out of the box. It was tricked out with add on exhaust and a fancy paint job and who knows what else. I had two thoughts, the guy looked very uncomfortable, and how long would I have my drivers license if I had that!!
