How good can they really be? Lots of roads have twists and turns. So was it worth riding 110 miles through rain and wind just to get to one? Then another 70 miles on said road, and finally another 125 miles home?

Well, how would you like to ride a roller coaster that lasted 90 minutes and went for 70 miles? That pretty much describes California Hwy 58.

The road is empty of traffic and has hairpin turns, switchbacks, wavy sections, high speed "S" turns and even a few miles of straighs in which you can test your nerve at high speed.

I have ridden about 12,000 miles in my 2.5 years of riding and most of it in the Sierra Nevada foothills and higher elevations but none compare to this; sections for a few miles yes, but not uninterrupted or unimpaired for such distance.

Some photos, but mostly spent the time in the moment. In fact only 2 of these are actually from Hwy 58 and they were just about 2 miles in.
