Interesting... so the Burgman costs less in England than the BMW? Because here in the States, the Burgman costs MORE than the C650GT.

I can fit 2 full face lids (Schuberth and a Bilt) with bluetooth communicators under the seat of the Sport. It's a shame the writer claimed it as difficult. I also find it interesting that the Sport is listed at £10,345 for Highline...I paid $10,200USD for the same, and currently BMW has a $1000.00 rebate on the Sport here stateside which changes things even further.

This review was an exercise in pure subjectivity. The reviewer acknowledged that the C600 Sport was faster and more powerful than the T-Max 530 but he ultimately liked the lighter handling of the Yamaha. What he didn't even consider was the fact the BMW has antilock brakes and the T-Max doesn't. In a previous match between the BMW, Aprilia 850, and the Yamaha T-Max, the superior braking ability of the BMW carried the day. When all is said and done brand loyalty if fun - but as SteveADV says, "to each his own."

From my experience, unless Yamaha completely overhauled the electrical system of the TMAX, it is woefully inadequate to power electrically-heated clothing too. The accessories catalog even lists a power socket OR electrically-heated grips, but you can't install both. The BMWs easily handle the load of electrically heated seats AND grips and still have enough juice left over to power an electric jacket.

That, and the smallest underseat storage capacity of all the big scooters (except the Aprilia) all lowers its practicality too... and that's why I bought a scooter in the first place: practicality. If all I wanted was power and handling, I'd've stuck with a regular MOTORCYCLE.

I'm coming from a Vespa 300. The BMW c600/650 is the only one that really captured what I was looking for in a scoot. The TMax was close, but I wanted ABS and more storage. Also, since it isn't available here in the states, I didn't give it serious consideration. I'm an urban commuter (chicago) primarily riding on city streets, with some highway runs, but nothing serious and I find the c600 perfect. It is agile enough in heavy city traffic, but powerful enough for me to do some highway when needed. It is much more stable and comfortable than my GTS 300 and nearly as fun imho. The GTS feels almost toy like after being on my c600. The other maxis other than the GTS/SRV/TMax just look like they were targeting geezers in FL.

I'm not a serious motorcycle rider and I think BMW hit this one out of the park. I was looking for a transportation solution that allowed me to make my 10 mile urban commute more convenient and cheaper than driving my hulking SUV. About the only thing I think BMW did wrong is not more aggressively marketing this product. I get all kinds of stares and questions about my c600. The average urban commuter who might have the disposable income to buy this product is probably unaware that it exists given the attention I get on mine.

The reason I'm here in the first place is that I had (still have!) great hopes for the C600Sport, as my NEXT scoot when my Tmax gets a bit long in the tooth...or when I can't resist upgrading!

I figured that I'll be able to get a good, low-mileage example in a couple of years for a great price, with the initial dealer depreciation hit taken care of. (I got my Tmax for $6,300 new, down from the original list price of $8,400 without Dealer Prep, Freight, etc.)

Also, it would have a TRACK RECORD as to strengths and weaknesses, with any teething problems taken care of and a LONG-TERM commitment from BMW in place.
Hence my disappointment with the roll-out to date. I'm HOPING for a comprehensive reassessment from BMW to address and rectify the documented shortcomings/weaknesses to date. Then I'll be able to go "Oh, the 2014's FIXED the Clutch, Gauge Gremlins, Chain tensioner, etc." and then keep my eyes open for a nice, used one...

Off topic but, where are these "shortcomings" documented?
True, I'm a junior member and have only had my Sport for 3 weeks but I have yet to read anything about clutch problems, gauge issues (other than the OAT & tire pressure sensors being off) and chain tensioner issues. Can I get some help here?

My dealer (and I) have not encountered the problems complained of. Maybe I'm just lucky. However, this forum represents a small sample of the number of bikes sold worldwide and unless a larger number of our bikes experienced the same issues it is hard to extrapolate with small sample numbers. Additionally, a number of the problems initially reported have been fixed or just gone away. As an example, the fuel pump problem with the early Vespa 300 model was rampant.

AZ Tee Jay - just relax and enjoy your bike.

Ditto. Likewise. Tee Jay, you know how forums work (and clearly you are not new to bikes). We air out our problems, make suggestions for OEM improvements, and help each other with cool (and sometimes not so cool) gadget ideas. My experience with my GT mirrors Oldscoot's.

True. My issues have been minor (and haven't yet been corrected since I haven't bothered to bring it in to the dealer to complain):
1) TPM is wildly inaccurate. Trust a reliable pressure gauge instead when inflating your tires.
2) Driving the scooter a very short distance and parking it overnight seems to make it VERY stubborn to start in the morning. I pushed the scooter into the garage from the street the other night just so I didn't have to deal with that issue AGAIN.
3) Oil pressure light occasionally comes on at idle despite the oil level being fine. Above idle, it goes out.
4) Too much turbulence with the stock windscreen. That I fixed myself by installing the Aeroflow shield.

That's pretty much been "it." Good luck with yours!

Thanks gang.
Just never spent this much on a strictly "fun" machine before and don't want it to become a money pit.
Still like to save up for the Dr. pulley clutch and sliders if I can find a source.

Here is an example of a GREAT Promo Video...for a KYMCO! Imagine if BMW aired a similar ad with an All-Black NASTY C600???

You know what? I can't remember ever seeing ANY BMW ad or commercial featuring the scooters other than on their own website...
