Hey!! One of your headlights are burnt out!!

No, They designed it that way and it bothers me to no end. Completely ruins the aesthetic. I would have gladly spent another $100 for a proper headlight setup. I swore that I would never purchase a motorcycle with a dual-headlight setup with only one side that lights up for the low-beams. Got the BMW c650 Sport anyway and I hate the scooter just because of the headlight setup. I either have to ride around with high-beams on all the time, or ride around with what looks like a burnt out bulb on one site. It ruins the look and I hate it. Enough so to trade it in for the next gen T-MAX when it comes out. No way I'm going to own something that irks me so much. Rant over.
 
It does look stupid especially since they have a symmetrical sort of look - like they should both be on. It's not like the cartoon shaped headlamp other bikes have where you can't figure out what light should do what.

I also think the single headlight is not nearly bright enough for night riding. I tried brighter bulbs but hated buying them every few months so back to originals. Since day 1 - I just leave high-beams on all the time and its okay for night riding. In California folks aren't shy about flashing you if your brights annoy them. I don't remember anyone ever reacting to my standard bulb high-beams.
 
I agree with your "rant" Tony (I hope you feel better.:D). The new daytime running lights on the c650 look so cool you would have thought the one lamp low beam configuration would have been changed.

Don't know about the new TMAXes, but the 2009 model I had also had one lamp for low beam, and one lamp for high beam. Nearly ALL manufacturers are doing that nowadays and I have no idea why. I agree... it looks STUPID.
 
I sure hate it too and try to run my daytime LEDs as long as I can until it just too dark for them!

Why are you so concern about the dual head lights you don't see them while riding are you afraid of being ridiculed by having just one light on doesn't really seem like a problem
 
Seeing as many motorcycles use the same set up of one bulb at a time in use it seems odd to be so sensitive to the esthetics of the headlight to the point of getting rid of the bike. For one thing it uses less power than running two bulbs at all times. I agree it would have looked better to have stacked the headlamps vertically to prevent the assymetrical appearance but hardly worth going to an inferior machine just for the headlight. I'd be more concerned abut how the headlights worked. For the record I find the GT's headlights to be more effective than the Burgman 650 or the Silverwing 600.

It looks like butt. There's plenty of things that you don't see while riding? Should we not care about how they look?

I'm assuming you mean that in a negative way.;). I mean, after all there are those that.....

Butt seriously (sorry), I can't even remember if I did a walk around with the bike running during the test drive or on the day I bought it and don't remember when I first noticed one bulb. Like Tony said, it is one of those things that can get under your skin. Doesn't bother everyone, though. Me personally, I would have preferred stacked lights like exavid said, but oh well.
 
The main thing to me is that the lights both high and low beam are very effective. Nearly as good as those on my previous GL1800 which were the best lights I've ever seen on a bike.

I agree.. though there's never enough lighting when it comes to Christmas.. so maybe we should add a little more this coming December. ;)
