Throttle Problem on C650GT

After I have been riding on the highway and get back onto city streets, the throttle seems really touchy at low speeds. When riding at 25 to 35 mph the engine cuts back to idle at something like 10% throttle. I can accelerate or I can coast, but cannot ride smoothly with a stead low speed no matter how precisely I adjust throttle.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there an adjustment that can be made?

Thanks.

For me the cut out from belt power is at about 30 kph. This has to happen or else you would never get idle. I have dr. Pulley sliders and rollers. Your higher number of 30 mph may be due to stock rollers

It is the opposite of acceleration from stop you may have to get the engine to 3000rpm before the belt kicks in

I experience the on/off clutch engagement when I ride about 25 mph if the street has a slight downhill pitch. If it's a bit steeper downhill the bike will coast and maintain speed and if I have a slight uphill I can keep the revs up enough that it's smooth. There is a definite confusion zone though when circumstances are right.

Kinda funny, I have the same throttle thing when I turn onto Stonebrook ave. here in Medford. My bike has acted the same way since I got it. It's most noticeable when coming off a road with a 50mph or more speed limit onto a road with a 25mph limit. Usually it clears up after a few moments. I usually just carry a little throttle which prevents the 'on-off' effect. I've driven motor coaches, (charter buses) that had the same effect. Usually caused by electronic engine control computers. I had to get used to it so I didn't have 57 people nodding every time I touched the throttle. Usually one gets used to it and feathers the throttle to prevent it.

Guys, thanks for the replies, I've been away for a while.

My problem is not the clutch disengaging, but with the engine going to an idle condition with 10 or 15% throttle. The throttle works smoothly above that power level, but abruptly cuts out with a light throttle at around 30mph. The On/Off throttle position is very sharp and no amount of finesse allow me to ride smoothly. It is most pronounced immediately after getting off the freeway.

Exavid you my be onto something when you mentioned the electronic engine control. I never had this problem until after the engine module was re-flashed at the 600 mile service 3 years ago. But the problem seems to be getting a little worse.

I can live with it (I love the bike), but I thought someone might know the fix.
