My GIVI top box is almost 14 years old and still keeps everything dry, opens and closes easily, and continues to look good! I thought it was expensive, but it has proven to be money well spent. It has 80 thousand miles on it.

I just added a givi mount so I could transfer my 55L Givi between bikes. I don't remember the weight restriction, but I know this - it is far less than I have repeatedly loaded my box with, to no ill effect on any of my bikes.

Some pictures (I hope - if I can figure it out.

Simple install - pop the BMW medallion and the two plugs (covering screw holes) on the grab bars. Attach the Givi brace via 3 bolts (under medallion and grab bar holes) and then attach Givi mount plate to support with 6 bolts.

Do you need to use the aluminum plate or can the case attach directly to the brace? The description for the brace on the Givi site says it includes a nylon monokey plate with the brace. I don't plan to ever remove the topcase.
 
If I understand your question, I don't think the case can attach directly to the brace, using Givi hardware. However, I use a monokey case. It is certainly possible to drill into the case and attach to the brace via nuts and bolts, if that is what you want to do.

Mine says 6 kg or 13 lbs. However the mount seems very solid therefore I'm sure that weight limit is very conservative. But it is an aftermarket GIVI rack not an OEM rack.
 
I would like some clarification on mounting a top case to the c600. I already have a givi top case on my current scooter. If I want to mount it on the BMW scooter do I need to buy from BMW the OEM luggage rack, or is it possible to buy one from givi that will allow me to attach directly to the back of the scooter, then my top case on that. If I need the BMW luggage rack, then I would like to negotiate that into the deal. I understand that either way I will need still need to purchase the actual mounting plate from givi, either universal or bike specific.

Just remember the more weight you load high and back of the rear axle will adversely affect your handling. Those weight limits rarely have anything to do with structural limits on the luggage and rack and more as to how it'll affect your handling. The BEST place to put stuff on our scooters is under the seat. Only light weight things you need to get to quickly should ever be put in the top box.

I already had a givi top case. I purchased the givi mount for the c600 and it includes everything you need to mount the case to the scooter. They have 2 versions, one for monokey cases and one for monolock cases. As long as you order the one for your case you're good to go.

The givi mount installs to the same screw holes as the BMW one. Takes about 20 minutes if you follow the directions or about 5 if you just put the pieces together and then attach the whole thing to the scooter. You'll know what I mean when you get it.
 
Ok thanks for the info. Well, still deciding on the purchase but now thinking of what type of accessories I may ask for them to throw in.

I also have a GIVI top box on my C600. I bought the GIVI mounting kit and it worked beautifully.
 
I have sequenced the pics (hope), the install required removal of the right rear side panel. Once it's off, you see the wire harness, I unclipped it
And then tapped into it using the posi taps (great accessory, also included in kit) kit # 1255RY from Admore lighting. $139.00, everything included.

Admore wires:

Blue & Red (spliced) connect to - 12v tail light wire
Purple - Brake light
Green - right turn signal wire
Yellow - left turn sig wire
Black - ground

You'll see five wires; the colors are as follows: on Bike,

BROWN = ground
WHITE = running (12V when the bike is on, 0V otherwise)
RED = brake (12V when either brake is applied)
GREEN = right signal (alternates between 12V and 0V as the signal blinks)
YELLOW = left signal (likewise)

Color wire diagram for 650. This is from "E.R." on the BMW Scooter Blog . So that's pretty much every wire you'd need for most things. Thank you E.R!

The lights are two strips that I stacked staggered on one another and left a little space for separation. I placed the lights atop a cut sheet of white reflective tape, since the red cover does not reflect. Perhaps red will look better, but that'll have to wait.

I am pleased over all and it is a straight forward application. I initially removed almost all of the rear trying to get to the tail light assembly. Live and learn. I am sharing so that your install will be pleasurable.

Total time 1 hour. I had to drill the case, two holes behind light for wires and one on bottom for connection. The connection is made with a locking clamp that is watertight. The wire for connection extends from seat while closed. I used the trunk light pass through for the wire from the main connection so it is seamless.

Just found this thread - post a couple above gives me the details - thanks and great information.

What I don't know and would appreciate some help - how to remove the right rear panel? I'm used to Piaggio plastics, which have invisible (well, okay "hidden") connectors and easily breakable tabs. So, any assistance is appreciated here.
