Washing your Scoot

What products are you using to wash and detail your new scooter? BMW products, or, off the shelf stuff?

I just use dish washing liquid, and finish it with turtle wax.

I keep it simple, I use water and a liquid soap wash. After that I use a polish to make it nice and shiny. I let it dry and and I make sure their is no spots or anything left uncleaned on my scooter.

I just use the Magic Towel and dishwashing liquid as everyone had already stated, then finished it with a wax. I want to have those Magic Pen advertised on TV for scratches coz it seems to be quite handy for hiding scratches.

What is with dishwashing liquid? Looks like this is a hit when it comes to washing cars also. Is it the anti-grease property that it has? How effective dishwashing can get? I might shift to that when my cleaner runs low. My cleaner, by the way, is a liquid detergent. The ones we use in washing machines, you know? So far, so good. The dirt easily washes out. And water of course for rinsing. Then I use my trusted chamoi for drying it.

Dish detergent is very harsh and will remove wax. I use a quality auto wash product and not a lot and then wax with a good polymer but not with carnauba which is yellow. Polymer also doesn't leave white in the creases.

Ok, we understand the rain for the water part but then the question is; what kind of soap do you squirt on it before you ride in the rain?............Or do you add the soap while you are riding? Or?

This is my recipe for success. Carnuba does give a subtle glow but just like all waxes, it melts when the sun gets too hot. A synthetic sealant bonds to the paint and is much more durable. A finishing spray for quick touch ups. You should only use dish soap when you want everything stripped, it's like washing your hands in alcohol, they're clean but also all essential oils are removed. I have to mention the Back to Black product, it's damn good at keeping the black plastic looking good and showroom fresh.

I use the same thing that I've been using on my bikes for many years, Lemon Pledge. Works well on paint and windshields as well. Cheap and effective, no white wax in the cracks.

Lemon Pledge gives a great shine but NEVER use it on anything that is yellow, and will be outside. It will attract every bee for miles around. I speak from experience.

It's like a pressure washer... no need for soap when the water scours all the dirt off at speed.
