I'm convinced! My new C600

On my scooter it makes a big difference in which helmet I'm wearing. When I have my modular helmet on I can run at freeway speeds with the windshield almost all the way down. With my 3/4 helmet I tend to run with the windshield quite a bit higher due to noise and buffeting. I believe it's actually caused by the helmet itself. The modular helmet is a lot smoother with a flush surface probably resulting in a more laminar flow of the air. The three quarter is no where near as streamlined so likely to be causing a lot of the buffeting itself.

I think helmets play a big part also. I only have one, a shoei full face. What I've noticed, is that if I shrug my shoulders and raise them as close as possible to my helmet, the noise almost disappears. Of course, I can't really ride like that. This fall I may be on the prowl for a new helmet. It will be 4 years old by then.

You get the same effect installing the Whisper Strip accessory kit from SHOEI on you existing helmet. I did on my SHOEI QWEST and it works great...and is warmer!

A guy on the ADV forum posted that it fit his RF 1100, even though it wasn't listed. As the RF 1100 and my Qwest are almost identical, using the same cheek pads, and visors, I took a chance and ordered it. When it came in, the application list enclosed from SHOEI said it fit the RF 1100 and Qwest. Weird, huh? Fits perfectly...

I searched and saw that the xr1100 is the same as my rf1100, so looks like I may order it. That also means my next helmet will be a shoei.
