On Tuesday I will pick up my new 2016 C650 Sport. I've ordered the bmw top case/rear rack/back rest pad and the factory alarm. I want to get the Ermax Rear Hugger for my new scoot as well to keep the underside clean (as much as the Ermax possibly can).

Are there any must have items or things I should be aware of. I'm jumping from a Piaggio BV350. I wanted something larger, more stable at freeway speed, sporty looking, but still have the cargo capacity and utility of a scooter. The C650 Sport was a perfect fit.

Soon I want to get the BMW Motorrad Cover for the scooter and the rain cover for the seat.

Here is a picture of my new baby!! Image1460197489.212422.jpgImage1460197498.130018.jpg

Nice! The wunderlich side stand enlarger is nice. It took me some time to replace the stock windscreen but wish I would have done it sooner. If they offer the tunnel bag for the new scooters I would also get it. I use it often on my rides. I can easily access things like water bottles, camera glove liners or whatever without needing to get off.

What did you replace the stock windshield with? A shorter sportier version or something a bit larger?

I'd put Grip Puppies on the grips and shorty, two-finger brake levers. I've only seen the Valencia Orange version in person. The White looks GREAT!

Sporty650 - Good move getting the top case. Especially with the Sport which doesn't have much under seat storage. The covers are a good idea too, other than that you might want to ride the bike for a few months before adding much aftermarket stuff. I've jumped the gun and bought stuff I thought I wanted for previous bikes only to discover later I didn't want or need them.
Personally I don't care for the short brake levers, if you injure your hand or some such the OEM levers longer length allow more leverage meaning less effort in braking. Better fine control as well.

I have had my own version of "custom made" short levers....in fact, several times. Have one now. Somehow, I gotta figure out how to stay up on that thing. :D

Now you know why the older bikes used to have a knob on the end of the clutch and brake levers.:( I haven't dropped any of the four Maxi scooters I've owned but I can tell you anything you want to know about righting just about all models of Goldwings.

Remember there are two types of riders, those that have dropped their bikes and those who lie about it.

What he said..... Dropped mine within a week of getting it. Tight slow turn into a parking space and made the mistake of using the front brake. A slow motion but unstoppable event. Fortunately, I could not find a single mark on the bike after picking it up then looking around to see if anyone saw me.

That works real well with a bike that's wide enough so that it doesn't go down very far. Let's see them do it that way if the bike goes flat on the ground. Ain't gonna happen with a face toward the bike method. Wont work with a Goldwing either. The least strain on the rider uprighting a bike, even a scooter is butt first on the seat.

Sorry to be unappreciative of a bike but those Victory Visions look just plain ugly to me.

That brings up the question, if a bike falls in a forest and no one sees it...

My favorite version of that!
If a man is in the woods and there are no women around, and he says something, is he still wrong?

I'm loving my new ride. It is so smooth on the highway, is able to makes its way with ease around and through the terrible cracks and potholes here in San Diego, and it's just a fantastic machine. I've never owned a motorcycle. I started riding 6 years ago. I've had a Vespa GTV 250, Piaggio Fly 150 and BV 350. I don't really have an interest for anything larger than the C650S because I want to easily make my way through the city traffic here in San Diego. I do love this bike. Perfect amount of storage and great performance. I will have to head back up to BMW motorcycles of Riverside in a couple weeks so they can install the alarm and top case. That will be the longest trip I've made on the freeway. The ride from my house to the dealer is 100 miles. The farthest I've gone so far is from North Park to La Jolla for the VA hospital and UC San Diego. I've been taking more trips in the freeway to get used to the handling and speed. I'm so used to just making my way through town on surface streets.
