TPMS inaccurate.

I have been paying attention to my tire pressure readings and Real vs Indicated is a consistent minus 3#'s on both tires. I figure with this info I can pretty much rely on the TPMS reading to know when to add air.

Read the TPMS instructions in the manual. If I'm reading correctly? Do NOT rely on an air pressure gauge static. Rely on the TPMS because it considers air temp when giving a reading. I now pump the tires to F=40psi, R=44psi. The TPMS now reads F=36, R=40 - which is the pressure I want while riding.
 
Not sure I would air past never exceed pressure which on the feel free is 41 and 42 actual pressure for temp and altitude at a given location.
 
I'll just stay with the readings on my tire gauges. I have an analog and a digital gauge that agree with each other on everything I've used them on. So I'll set the pressure with the gauge and use the TPMS as a reference. As far as reading the pressure and compensating for temperature, every pressure gauge does that. The TPMS system in my wife's car does it right, whatever the system says the pressure is that's what my gauges read. Sure the pressure in the tire goes up with heat but that TPMS tracks the pressure right along with an external tire gauge. You'd think these things would be pretty much the same in the way they work.
