I have been paying attention to my tire pressure readings and Real vs Indicated is a consistent minus 3#'s on both tires. I figure with this info I can pretty much rely on the TPMS reading to know when to add air.

This. I don't rely on it at all.
Not sure I would air past never exceed pressure which on the feel free is 41 and 42 actual pressure for temp and altitude at a given location.
Rely on the TPMS because it considers air temp when giving a reading.
