Could these cause stress on other components like the Chain Tensioner?
Could these cause stress on other components like the Chain Tensioner?
These are pretty common things to do to any scooter (This is my second one with DR Pulley sliders) and there really is no downside to these, that's one of the reasons most scooters owners change these out.
1. Better low end acceleration
2. Better top end gearing
3. Longer life
The only downside really is cost of parts and labor. Some scooters are harder than others to get to the variator. This one is pretty easy.
It seems like the 28 gram ones are the sweet spot. My top speed appears unchanged at 110mph, but everywhere else the scooter feels faster, most noticeable in part throttle applications.
At wide open throttle the engine is louder as it is reving to a higher rpm that it did before due to the gearing change, that's where you get your better acceleration.
I choose not to do the sliding pieces (Even though I ordered those as well) mostly because they are not a direct fit, you have to file down the edges of the variator to make them fit and at that point the stock pieces would not go back in if you even needed or wanted to return to stock. I honestly can't see them making that much of a difference performance wise, possibly they may make the varitator more quiet, but I don't hear much noise from it anyways.
As I was telling elamofo, I am local to you guys and have all the tools to do the job. I don't charge anything, I am a person that likes modifying things as a hobby.
Let me know if you want my help
So do you feel the 28gram rollers help with the throttle lag from a dead stop? I have sliders in the Vespa GTS300 and they made a noticeable difference. I could careless about top speed as I really have no desire to go beyond 90mph. I just want a bit better responsiveness off the line. I'm happy with the power band once rolling.
I changed them out on my GTS and it was fairly simple with the clutch tool. I'll probably order the BMW tool and do it myself.
but the transmission has to do a fair bit of slipping before the scooter starts to move, that's kinda the nature of the beast I guess..
Huge improvement. My Tmax 500 walks away from a C600/650 with a set of 16.5gm Dr. Pulley Sliders and my mileage increased...
Going to order them today.
Just needs to last until the Ducati scooter comes out

I know some of u have these mods/upgrades done.As i'm not so patient with e waiting time,1 of e scooter shops here have e 30g sliders but i've read around that e 28g ones is e best bang for your buck. What i ultimately want is just better acceleration from e stock C650GT with minimal expenditure done as i'm not really after big gains. My question is,will a 28g differ a lot from e 30g in terms of acceleration?I've also noted these changes compared to stock.Would appreciate any advice anyone have on these... Thanks

Isn't that Ducati this same concept?

I wouldn't bother with the 30 gram ones. If better acceleration is what your after the lighter the better. The heavier ones don't make you lose as much top speed, but that's not what most of us are after since the top speed in this thing is good. After installing the 28 gram ones the difference is subtle, its not earth shattering. I would imagine the 30 gram ones would be even less noticeable.
Give me a BMW C850 with 100hp and i'm happy.
