Last weekend I decided I would ride to the Mountains and do part of the Notch ride of the "Second Annual Rally" . I went over the Kangamangus Highway. The traffic was lighter than I expected, even warm at the higher elevations. There were more bikes than cars on the route, it was a good day for a ride!IMG_0374.jpg

Guess you weren't able to make it, Snowdog? Mine was the only scooter in attendance. Most of the rally goers had never seen one in person before (only in photos). At least one couple is considering one for themselves now. :)

I worked so much overtime last week, I never got my camping gear out of storage, but, headed that way Saturday morning, anyway. I ended up in Vermont after a friend invited me via cellphone for a ride through the mountains. I saw a lot of BMW's , wondered if any were from the rally. It was a good weekend for riding.

Just for the record, The Second Annual Rally is close to several amusement parks and rides. Such as Story Land, Santa's Village and Six Gun City( for those with small young ones) , The Cog Railroad (up MT Washington) The Alpine Slide and Water Park at Attitash MT and many others, for the older folks.

Oh Sure!!!!! You didn't say there was an amusement park with a roller coaster!!!!!!

Two in the area, actually. Six Flags New England, and Lake Compounce. There is apparently a new coaster opening up at SFNE, built in place where the old Cyclone used to stand (I hear it was destroyed in a storm). The ride wasn't to open till Sunday (the day I was heading home) though, so I went to Lake Compounce instead. Boulder Dash is my all time FAVORITE wooden roller coaster. Built on a mountainside, all the climbs and drops follow the terrain. Really really cool coaster.

Lake Compounce also has unlimited FREE soft drinks all day (I forgot about that little detail). Of the two amusement parks, I think I prefer Lake Compounce (though Six Flags New England does have one of my favorite steel roller coasters on premises: Bizarro).

I went on that ride at 6Flags, I forget the name, but it was violent!!! motion!!! and I was dizzy for about an hour afterwards, I sat in the front seat, felt like you were going slightly inverted on the first hill. It's the one a kid fell out of a few years ago. Crazy!

Route 129 through Deal's Gap is far more "Roller-Coaster Like" than the Cabot Trail (but the Cabot Trail is a lot prettier).

rollercoaster

I am talking about one section I had always done up hill, and found it a more thrilling ride down hill.

I am in West Virginia right now, and there are some awesome roads with little to no traffic. Seems like you are going either up or down and either right or left or both at the same time. There was one road where I was dizzy at the end.
